02
Process

How maintenance works.

  1. 01

    Intro call

Free and with no obligation. I take a quick look at your website, then we agree on the rate.

  2. 02

    Audit & handover

I check the state of your website and take over your logins, or move the site to my server.

  3. 03

    Ongoing care

Updates, monitoring, backups and your changes on request. You only hear from me when there is something to report.

  4. 04

    Monthly report

A clear report with uptime, work done and every change.

03
Layers

Three layers I work on.

  1. Technical

    Speed, security, stability

Optimise images, apply software updates, protect the login, measure speed regularly and fine-tune.

  2. Content

    Visibility, copy, readability

Titles and descriptions for new pages, internal links, image descriptions for search engines, tidying up outdated content.

  3. Visual

    Buttons, layout, mobile

Keep buttons consistent, check how it looks on mobile, keep things readable, short forms instead of long questionnaires.

What matters

What maintenance actually covers.

Where maintenance really makes a difference

Maintenance is more than software updates. It touches three layers that work together: the technology behind the scenes, the content for visitors and search engines, and the visual clarity.

Neglect one of these layers and the whole site suffers. A fast website with outdated content helps no one.

One month, four steps

Maintenance does not happen in bursts but at a steady pace. Weekly checks, updates when needed, daily backups.

Once a month I sum up what happened and what I recommend. A short overview, not a flood of numbers.

04
Why

Why ongoing care matters.

  • WordPress needs attention Security holes in the core and in plugins keep turning up and getting patched. Go a few months without updating and the risk quietly builds up in the background.
  • The environment changes on its own Browsers, PHP versions and external services keep moving on. What works today can start throwing warnings a year from now, even when nothing on the site itself has changed.
  • Updates can clash with each other One plugin update can break another, especially with page builders and WooCommerce. I update in the right order and test afterwards.
  • Visibility needs ongoing care Broken links, slow pages and missing descriptions slowly chip away at your visibility. Maintenance also means things like this do not sit around for months.

FAQ

Common questions.

  • What exactly does maintenance cost?

From CHF 79 per month, billed annually. The exact rate depends on the technology and scope of your website and is agreed in the intro call.

  • How long does the plan run?

The minimum term is 12 months, billed annually. After that, you can cancel at the end of any month.

  • Is hosting really included?

Yes. Every maintenance plan includes hosting on my dedicated server. You do not need a separate hosting contract.

  • What if my website was not built by you?

I take a look and tell you honestly whether it makes sense for me to take it on. Moving the site to my server is free when you sign up for a maintenance plan.

  • Can I edit the content myself?

For custom-built websites I handle smaller content edits (up to around 30 min/month) as part of the plan. For WordPress sites you edit the content yourself, as usual, in the admin area.

  • What if I need more help than the rate covers?

You book extra hours through an hourly package, with a maintenance-plan discount. Larger jobs, such as a redesign, I quote separately.

  • What about a shop or online payments?

Websites with a shop, online payments or a member area are individual projects, not a fixed package. Tell me about your situation and I will work out a specific rate.

  • What happens if my site goes down at night?

The external monitoring alerts me automatically. I deal with it the next business day (Mon to Fri) during office hours. I do not promise 24/7, that would not be honest for a one-person operation.

  • Are plugin licences included in the price?

Free standard plugins, yes. Paid plugins either run on my agency licence or are billed separately. We sort that out at the start.

  • How quickly can I switch?

From the first call to going live on my server is typically one to three weeks, depending on how accessible the old setup is and how complex the site is.

  • Do you also write content (copy, images)?

Small fixes and adding content, yes. Writing copy and longer SEO texts are typical hourly-package work, not part of maintenance.

  • I already have hosting at Hostpoint/Cyon/Infomaniak. Do I have to switch?

For the maintenance plan, yes. It is only available together with my hosting. The reason: I can only maintain what I have full server access to. On shared hosting I do not have enough control.
