The starting point

As a graphic designer and artist, Sara Kobi sets a high bar for herself: a portfolio that shows her work without retreating into design gestures. The site’s design wasn’t allowed to compete with the work, it had to support it.

What we did

The typography choice was the pivot: a typeface with character that doesn’t make noise. The whole design system was built around that decision, sizes, spacing and colour follow the type, not the other way round.

The site shows work in generous, calm layouts; the navigation is lean, with grouping by body of work. The WordPress theme is built so new projects can be added without layout decisions, the design takes care of the rules.

The outcome

A site that lets the work speak rather than explaining. The design serves the work but stays visible as a coherent system in its own right, a card-call for Sara Kobi’s design sensibility.
